Chapter 4: Weary Women
Okay, confession time, since I’ve been married, that is over 30 years, I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve had my Quiet Time first thing in the morning. When I had several little ones it worked best to read while nursing the baby and the other children were napping in the afternoon. The house was quiet and the Lord could speak to me. I also read the Word aloud to my babies, including during pregnancy. Hearing is the first and last sense to function in a human.
When I had a child old enough to take over breakfast clean up, I began to have my Quiet Time during this slot. Everybody was dressed and fed and mom could read and pray for a short slot of time.
Even now with two grown sons at home, I get up and first help my husband get off to work by fixing his lunch and preparing breakfast for all of us. I eat with my husband and then get dressed for the day before having my Quiet Time. I have more time available at this season of life. Time for exercise while I work on memorizing Scriptures, prayer time with written lists, time to read the Word and journal.
The Lord has always been faithful to meet me in the amount of time He has allowed.
