The Wyoming cousins - all girls!

June: Camping and wood-cutting, an egg found hidden in the grass while hiking, picnic and shooting - the girls were pretty silly with the balloons (targets), strawberries from the garden.

July - Children's concert with instrument "Petting Zoo" with two of the granddaughters.

September - another granddaughter! Older sister's birthday was celebrated with a trip to Bar-J Wranglers, a wounded woodpecker on our porch, 

October - playing in the leaves.

November - Mother and daughter, Tea Party hat, and

 Thanksgiving afternoon Auntie reads "Cowboy Sam."

The first is to Homestead Revival. I find myself with the same dilemma at times. The seed co-op I have bought garden seeds from for the last few years has great prices, great selection, but thinks the government should be more involved in the agricultural arena. Hmm, I think they've helped make the mess we are in. Does anyone know of a garden seed source with a biblical-dominion philosophy?

Not a True Princess

"I've seen alot worse than Disney princesses." A mother of young girls said to me when we were discussing linking to a certain website. This sent a wave of dismay through me!

Years ago, when The Little Mermaid movie came out, one of my sons quickly announced she was rebellious to her father. This article does an excellent job of exposing the latest Disney princess. Read here.

Town Hall for Hope

Have you noticed that all the talk about the economy is negative. The media seems to be giving everything a down slant. Personally, I think it is so people become hopeless and won't say no to anything that is proposed. After all who wants to be the one that says no to something that might make things better. But have we really done our homework to discern if the economy is really that bad? Or are we playing the blame game and being lazy?

Last night our church participated in the live broadcast, if that what you call it, of Dave Ramsey's Town Hall for Hope. It was very good. He refuted many of the current fears such as being in a "depression" using history. You can access information and resources on the web site: townhallforhope.com or click on the title link above.

He concluded with three points: Get Activity, Don't participate in Loser Talk, and Learn to Say "No."

Sabotaging Authority

While attending a community event recently, I watched an older extended family member allow a younger child, even encourage a younger child to do something the parents are trying to stop. Some would say it is cute behavior. But these parents are concerned with the ramifications of this behavior down the road as the child grows older.

Would this same person be open to someone encouraging his child to disobey him? I think not. Because this person has a different view on what the child was doing, does not give him the liberty to over step the parents. The parents are responsible for the upbringing of the child.

Lord, please help me to always respect the authority of a parent. Help me to take this as a warning to help uphold a parent’s authority, to guard myself against usurping a parent's wishes for their child.

Dismayed

Mr. Wonderful, one of our sons, and I were sitting together in church last Sunday. After the opening songs and prayer, it was time to "greet" others. We turned around and I was "dismayed." The woman behind us was wearing a thin white shirt, with her back to us, you could plainly see she was also wearing a black undergarment. It wasn't much better from the front.

Now she was not a young girl or young woman. She was a middle age married woman and her husband was with her. Why hadn't he said something to her before they left home? Did she think it wouldn't be noticeable? Was she trying to draw attention? She definitely was drawing everyone's eyes to a certain part of her anatomy.

I am dismayed more and more by the lack of older women being modest and not honoring the men around them by avoiding being a temptation or stumblingblock.
