Harvesting in the garden is so rewarding. We've been having a great broccoli crop this year. The beets, lettuce, and greens have also done well. So far we've put strawberries, raspberries, and peas into the freezer. I've also canned one small batch each of rhubarb and beets. All our salad greens are coming from the garden plus the broccoli, radishes, and cabbage to jazz up the salad. And I fried up some Yukon Gold potatoes to go with our grilled, barbeque chicken last night. The onions and zucchini are big enough to use now, as are the carrots.
I'm getting impatient for the tomatoes to get red-ripe! The grape tomato has huge clusters and the cherry tomato's tomatoes are getting huge! There was a light frost on the house roof this morning. I'm not sure our corn is going to make it. The tassles are just now coming out.
It has been fun to teach our granddaughter how to get the peas out of the pod, to find "red" strawberries and raspberries to eat, and to say "zucchini."
