As a child growing up in southern California the summer afternoons were hot, a perfect time to read. I've never lost the love of reading and try to squeeze some reading in every day. This summer I've been re-reading some of our missionary biographies.
So far I've centered around China. I've read two biographies on Isobel Kuhn. Reading about her pioneer missionary work really helps keep a grateful heart and motivate my prayer life. She learned to cast every care on God and watched Him supply time and time again. She lived in bamboo huts in the mountains so she could reach a people group without the Word and who the Chinese called dirt people. She was forced out of China by the communists over the mountains into Burma in the winter during a snowstorm. What incredible faith she demonstrated during her life.
