Will other fluids work? Well honestly, No!
•Juice-contains water but your body will get more nutrients and not alot of excess calories by eating the piece of fruit. (9 apples = 1 serving of apple juice)
•Milk-provides calcium and Vita D but drinking a large amount of milk can constipate. The opposite of how water helps your digestive tract.
•Coffee, tea, and soda-these are actually diuretic and dehydrate you. For every 6 ounces of caffeinated or alcoholic drink a person consumes it requires an additional 10 to 12 ounces of water to re-hydrate.
“But I don’t like water!” Try a squeeze of lemon or lime in the water. Although the lemon is a very acidic fruit, it is actually a major contributor to alkalinizing body pH levels (as are other citrus fruits). Lemon juice contains a high level of potassium. When potassium reaches the intestine, it is chemically changed (esterified) into potassium citrate. Potassium citrate is the strongest alkaline buffer encountered in the normal human diet. Drinking 6 tablespoons of lemon juice with water each day will provide a rich, natural source of potassium citrate. It promotes the production of sodium bicarbonate in the small intestine which is a natural alkaline substance that is necessary to maintain “friendly bacteria” in the colon.
Quality of lemon juice depends on its source.
First choice should be fresh (not irradiated). Second would be frozen or refrigerated concentrates without preservatives. Use filtered water. Chlorine or fluorine kills both “friendly” and harmful bacteria.
Remember to drink your water gradually during the day.
