I love to read books that make me think. So I've decided to write some of my thoughts on each chapter as a read through Passionate Housewives by Stacy McDonald and Jennie Chancey.
Chapter 1: The Other Side of the Street
Oh, I see so many young Christian moms like this. They have no vision of the influence they have on their precious children’s and husband’s lives. It is easy to slide into the pity party of the following thoughts: “What I do is not important.” “Whether I ever clean the toilet has no eternal significance.” The pity party can be an attitude of covetousness and discontentment because of living on only one income.
They send their babes off to play with others at day care, Moms’ Day Outs, Moms’ Bible Studies or fellowship groups where they are under others’ oversight. Children soak in everything: the behavior of the child who manipulates, the behavior of the worker who manipulates, bad words, bad behavior, how to be a good little hypocrite or liar to get what you want. Usually the children are over stimulated and stressed by so much going on that when mom takes them back home the rest of the day and sometimes night is not pleasant and she really hasn’t saved herself any time.
