Hand Stamped Christmas Towels

With the great technical help of my stamping friend, Monica, (handstampedart@yahoo.com) I just jazzed up two plain white cotton tea towels to wrap bread in for Christmas gifts.

I used:
100% cotton tea towel
Stampin’ Up Craft pads
Forest Foliage, Real Red
Small rubber stamps
I used a small Tree with the green and a small Star with the red from a Stampin’ Up set.

Wash towels and iron to prep
Mark the hemmed towel edges in fourths with pins.
Stamp at the center pin, then at the 1/4 and 3/4 pins.
Next do by the corners. Fill in between using the already stamped images as your guide.

I only did the hemmed edges, but you could get really fancy with multiple borders or fancy corners.

To set the stamped images: heat a dry iron to cotton. I protected my ironing board by putting a piece from an old sheet over the pad. Using the corner-pocket for the point worked great. Turn the towel upside down–stamped image down and press to heat set the images. To prevent any chance of ghosting do not over-lap work areas.

Remember for a hand-stamped artsy look the images do not need to be perfectly even. This is a special one-of a-kind creation.
