Happy Snowbirds

Because we live in a very wintery area, 

those who travel south for the winter are affectionately termed, "Snowbirds."

Two of our grandkids live in the south and they were very happy to have snow last week!

You have to love their smiles.

This little man knows how to move snow!

Done-in time

One set of the Christmas sewing...

Ready to go to Sunday School and Church!

 Miss these sweet ones.

 The other set was four tiered denim skirts-but I do not have a picture of these.

There was also 2 denim doll skirts with calico ruffle to match jumpers made in the summer, 2 denim-calico doll dresses, 1-doll dress to match the above outfits, and a doll dress to match granddaughter #6's Christmas outfit-red paisley and silver.

Family Fun

At the end of Summer--dear son #3 and family came for a very short visit.

The cousins had fun playing together.

Here four of the granddaughters are on the horse.

Here seven of the grandkids are on Grandpa!

Windblown Square Quilt-YeeHaw!

I'm ready for grandbaby #8 to arrive! 

The quilt is finished-except I might quilt in baby's initials.

Windblown Square in an all over pattern.

The red fabric has outlines of cows on it.

The blue lariats.

And the main fabric is "Cowboy Paperdolls" 

which is very cute with cowboys and cowgirls.

Very important, 

that there are both cowboys and cowgirls, 

since we won't know which it is until baby is born.

Praying for a quick and safe delivery...this week-please Lord!

Memory Making

 

I want my grandchildren to have good memories of being with Grandma.

One of the things we do each year is make chocolate covered pretzels.

This is much. much. much. easier than the traditional sugar cookie mess.

And the daddies think it yummier!

First we used the Christmas Cards I had received last year to punch gift tags. These we tied to "snack" sized baggies with a ribbon.

 

Each child had a brown paper lunch bag I had put their name on. They decorated their bags with some "Christmasy" stamps in red and green ink. Some of the darlings also got well inked!

We started with the youngest "helping" to put the pretzels into the chocolate 

with one of the Aunts over-seeing. 

 

Simple. Excitement.

 

Each child went home with 7 "snack" bags filled with pretzels in their decorated paper sack.

I encourage them to give their little bags of pretzels away to others.

 

 Some people will do anything to get some chocolate covered pretzels.

 One of my sons proving he can fit 6 chocolate covered pretzels in his mouth.

Play Date

Every week when it works out, I have a play-date with two of my grandchildren

While Mommy goes for a run, we head over to the park next to their house.

The favorite activity is the swing!

"Little" brother watches and sometimes gets a turn in the swing.

He enjoys his milk!

This is one way as a Grandmother I can encourage my daughter-in-law 

and enjoy time with my grandchildren.

Hunting Eggs

Easter dinner was at my parents home. Seven of their great-grandkids had fun hunting eggs outside in the Spring-like weather. They were released in a somewhat youngest to oldest order to hunt. As you can see several of the Uncles and Aunts thought they should help too.

With bulging bags and full baskets they invade the house to inspect their treasures.

This little one is happy to chew on just one egg.

Thanksgiving 2012

We have much to be thankful for this year…The entire family was together for Thanksgiving. Plus some extended family.

Our most precious gift this year was three precious babies: 2 girls, 1 boy

Some of the girls had fun ganging up on their Uncle…
