This is a discarded water-bottle from the service that supplies my husband's work. He cut the bottom out of the bottle. If the dirt around the bottle is higher than your seed/plant inside it will help prevent frost-bite. Even smaller bottles will work, they just need to be clear. Keep the lid off!
