Stepping Heavenward by Elizabeth Prentiss (11)

“As to carrying religion into everything, how can one help it if one’s religion is a vital part of one’s self…”

Yes, my beliefs should permeate everything I do. Actually I think a person’s real beliefs do. If you are not living by the religious principles you profess, you do not really believe those principles. You are fooling yourself and trying to fool others.

If you believe your husband is evolved from a blob you will probably treat him as such. But if you believe he is created in the image of God, to bring glory to God, you will see him as a special, unique person and treat him as such. The same is true of your children. If you believe you are a steward for God of what He gives you, then you will manage the resources God give you with care.

What we believe comes out in how we live and it is the message we are giving others.
